D Added Ninth chord (Dadd9) on the guitar fretboard
The D Added Ninth chord (Dadd9) is made of D (the root), F# (major third), A (perfect fifth) and E (major ninth). The fretboard shows every one of them across the neck in standard tuning (E A D G B E), and plays them back so you can hear the chord.
The added ninth places a ninth above a major triad and skips the seventh entirely. On the neck the ninth is the same note as the second, so it can appear right next to the root. Compare it with the ninth chord, which adds a seventh underneath.
