F# Major chord on the guitar fretboard

The F# Major chord is made of F# (the root), A# (major third) and C# (perfect fifth). The fretboard shows every one of them across the neck in standard tuning (E A D G B E), and plays them back so you can hear the chord.

The major triad is the root, a major third and a fifth, and it is the sound most other chords are measured against. On the neck it appears as the same compact shape in many places, because the three notes repeat on every string set. Its nearest relatives are the minor triad, one note lower in the middle, and the major seventh, one note taller.
